How were the guidelines created?
Inclusion International and Down Syndrome International's networks worked together to create the guidelines.
350 organisations from 100 different countries contributed to the work.
We got the information we needed by:
Collecting stories through a global survey in 10 languages online and in Easy Read.
Supported our members to run 60 consultation meetings with self-advocates to learn about their experiences
Asked for feedback from experts on topics like inclusion of people with higher support needs from around the world
Worked with a reference group of people with intellectual disabilities, their families, and other experts to help review the guidelines and give feedback at every stage
Tested the guidelines through 7 projects to make sure the advice was good at our own organisations and with outside organisations.
